Principal's Comments

The Nevada High School construction and remodeling process will take many twists and turns over the next few years. I am going to post information from time to time about the process and the affects to our building. My hope is to post at least once per month, but not more than one time per week. My email address is rmurray@mail.nevada.k12.ia.us - Please email me any comments or questions you might have.

THINGS PARENTS AND STUDENTS SHOULD KNOW TO START THE YEAR
8/3/09

ABSOLUTELY MOST IMPORTANT

High school represents the last fours years that most children live full time with their parents. The focus, rigor and course selection during a student's high school years will determine what opportunities are out there. Keep your child's feet to the fire and help her/him be the best they can be. Please partner with us over your child's high school career to help her/him achieve success.

CELL PHONES

Cell phones may be brought to school but the phones must be turned off during class time. The classroom teacher will handle cell phone violations. When there is a violation in the classroom the student will call the parents and inform them of the violation. Habitual violators will be referred to the office. Refusal to give up the cell phone is considered insubordination and this could result in suspension. In other words, we won't make this issue too big a deal unless the student does.

CHEATING

We want students to earn their grades the old fashioned way, they need to work for them. Cheating will cause a student to earn a lower grade and is considered a Code of Conduct violation.

COMMUNICATION

We will try to call, mail or email parents if things are not going well. Don't hesitate to call or email us or come to school for a visit.
