Just Right Reading Groups
Each child at
Central will receive part of their reading instruction in a group that is ÒJust
RightÓ for them.
After studentsÕ
reading and writing are assessed, teachers plan together to identify the individual
needs of students and how best to meet those needs. Students with similar needs
meet in a small group which focuses on what those students need at that time.
All groups will be working on one of The Five Parts of a Reading Program.
During Just Right
Reading groups, children may be with their classroom teacher, or they may be
with another reading teacher. These groups may last 30 minutes or as long as 60
minutes depending on the age and needs of the children.
Reports about a
childÕs participation in their Just Right Reading Group will be available in
report cards and at conference time.
These groups may
change throughout the year as the needs of the children change.
